Description
The Church of St Andrew, located on St Andrew's Road, is a parish church with origins dating back to the mid-12th century. It features a chancel and chancel arch from this period. The south nave arcade, south aisle, and south tower were added in the late 13th century, with the tower being completed around 1500 and restored in 1679. The chancel was extended around 1400, and in the 18th century, the east end of the church was rebuilt. Significant restorations took place in 1864, initiated by J C Buckler and completed by Scott, which included the extension of the nave to the west and the rebuilding of the north aisle. Further restoration occurred in 1881 by architect W Wilkinson, during which a vestry and porch were added.
