Description

The Toll Bridge on Godstow Road dates back to possibly medieval times but was rebuilt and altered in the 19th century, likely in 1892 when the road was improved. It is constructed of ashlar and coursed rubble and features three semi-circular arches with cutwaters on the north side. Incorporated into the north parapet wall is a memorial plaque made of incised granite dedicated to Lieutenants Bettington and Hotchkiss of the Royal Flying Corps, who were killed in an aeroplane crash in 1912.
