Description
The Beehives at St John's College is a block of student rooms built between 1958 and 1960, designed by Michael Powers of Architects' Co-Partnership. The building features Portland stone ashlar cladding and has pitched blue slate roofs. It consists of two storeys plus a basement, with a plan that comprises interlocking hexagons. The east and west elevations are saw-toothed, while the northern walls are blind, and the windows are oriented southwards. The large windows include obscured panels beneath them. The pointed roofs are topped with crowning spikes on the projecting staircase roofs.
