Description

ST GILES' STREET 1. 1485 (East Side) No 11 (Middleton Hall) SP 5106 NW 5/526 12.1.54. II GV 2. A restoration circa 1901-4 in Doulting stone of a stone house probably built in the last half of Cl7. 3-storeyed ashlar front with a balustraded parapet, a Welsh slate hipped roof and stone stacks. 2 and 3-light stone mullioned windows with a continuous hood mould to each floor. There is a central 2-storeyed projecting porch with a pediment and a 2-light sash window above it. At the back is the staircase projection and red brick additios by Benjamin Woodward. Interior: The framing of the original staircase remains; in the spandrels of a pair of its wooden arches is the date 1663.
