Description
Middleton Hall is a Grade II listed building located on St Giles' Street, dating back to the last half of the 17th century, with a restoration that took place around 1901 to 1904. The house is constructed of Doulting stone and features a three-storey ashlar front with a balustraded parapet, a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate, and stone chimney stacks. It has two and three-light stone mullioned windows, each with a continuous hood mould across all floors.
Prominently, there is a central two-storey projecting porch topped with a pediment and a two-light sash window situated above it. At the rear, there is a staircase projection along with red brick additions designed by Benjamin Woodward. The interior retains the framing of the original staircase, which features wooden arches with the date 1663 inscribed in the spandrels.
Middleton Hall is part of a group that includes Nos 1, 11 to 17 (consecutive), 19, 20, Black Hall, part of Queen Elizabeth House, and Nos 22 and 23.
