Description
This is a row of artisan terrace houses, numbered 114 to 138 Kingston Road, dating to 1870-73. Designed by Clapton Rolfe, the houses demonstrate the polychromatic style of architect G.E. Butterfield. They are two-storey houses with attics, constructed from polychromatic brickwork, and feature gabled dormers and bay windows. Pairs of arched entrances are divided by a column. Notable features include good architectural detail and a tiled roof with brick stacks. The terrace provides an interesting example of Butterfield’s influence, as highlighted in John Betjeman’s "First and Last Loves."
