Description

The Church of St Philip and St James, built in 1862 by G.E. Street, is one of the most notable Victorian churches and is regarded as one of Street's principal works. The church is constructed of coursed rubble with bands of brick and features a broach spire that includes a clock, completed between 1864 and 1866. It has a four-bay nave with aisles on both sides and an apsed east end. Inside, there are granite nave piers that have heavily carved capitals.
