Description
23-25 Broad Street is a group of three adjoining buildings, likely dating from the late 18th century.
No 23 is a five-storey timber-framed structure featuring a band at the second floor and a moulded cornice at the top. The uppermost floor appears to be a later addition, possibly from the 19th century. It has a small moulded cornice, a parapet, and a roof covered with Welsh slate. Each floor includes a three-sided bay window fitted with sash windows.
No 24 is a four-storey timber-framed building, also from the late 18th century, with a band at the second floor, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. Similar to No 23, it has three-sided bay windows with sash windows in moulded frames on each floor.
No 25, located at the corner of Turl Street, is a four-storey structure with a stuccoed timber frame, dating from the late 18th century. It features a moulded cornice and a parapet. The first floor has a sash window with a moulded wood architrave, accompanied by an oval lunette in a moulded wood frame to the west. The second floor includes a sash window and a lunette, while the third floor has a wood window frame with sliding lights. The elevation facing Turl Street is largely similar to the main facade. A continuous modern shop front spans the entire group.
Nos 6 to 25 form a cohesive architectural group.
