Description
The Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, formerly part of the Old Chemistry Department, is a building located on Parks Road. The original structure was the Abbot's Kitchen, built in 1860, designed in an octagonal shape similar to the kitchen at Glastonbury Abbey. This building was extended in 1901 to connect with the Radcliffe Library and is now an annex of the Library, featuring chimneys made of Bath stone. The main part of the current laboratory was constructed in 1878, also using Bath stone, and underwent extensions and reconstruction in 1929. Additionally, the connection between this building and the main block of the Museum was entirely altered by Lanchester & Lodge in 1972.
