Description
Worcester College's South Range, which includes the Pump Quadrangle and Old Kitchen, dates back to 1485. It consists of four blocks of camerae containing six chambers in total, constructed from Wheatley stone at various times in the 15th century for different Benedictine monasteries. Some remodeling occurred in the early 19th century. The north front features four shields of arms (some restored) representing the abbeys of Pershore, Glastonbury, Canterbury, and Malmesbury, along with a rebus of Compton. The East and South ranges of the Pump Quadrangle are also from the 15th century, with a top storey added in 1824. The Old Kitchen, originally from the 15th century, had its windows altered around 1820 and was converted into rooms in 1844.
