Description
Nuffield College is a graduate college located on Oxford New Road in Oxford, Oxfordshire. It was built between 1949 and 1960 and designed by the architects Harrison, Barnes, and Hubbard. The college features a limestone exterior with a stone slate roof and includes a tower topped with a copper spire. The building has two storeys plus dormers and consists of two linked rectangular courts, with the entrance located on the south side of the east court. The architectural style is a simplified version of Cotswold domestic design, characterized by square-headed stone-mullioned windows and two-light dormers. The square tower at the southeast corner contains the library's book stock and is crowned by the copper spire. Additionally, the chapel located in the south range features stained glass by artists John Piper and Patrick Reyntiens.
