Description
This is a house and shop, likely originating as a stone building in the 16th to 17th centuries, with alterations made early in the 18th century. The front of the building has a plain, 4-storeyed timber frame, partially refaced in 1949, featuring a moulded cornice, parapet, and a Welsh slate roof. A shop front occupies the ground floor. The first and second floors have 3-light 18th-century sash windows within moulded wooden frames, each with a cornice. A double sash window is positioned on the third floor. Inside, the front room on the first floor contains some early 17th-century made-up panelling, a reset overmantel from the same period, and a modern fireplace surround. The rear of the building has undergone alterations. The building is part of a group with Nos. 82 to 92 on St Aldate’s Street.
