Description
This is a stone located on the north side of Headington Hill, 20 yards east of the bridge. It is inscribed with the words 'Here endeth Hedington Hyway W.K. & I.F.' The stone dates back to 1485 and was set into the wall during road improvements in 1930. It may have been moved during these improvements and also in 1771 when the road was re-aligned. The paving of Headington Hill occurred in 1725.
