Description
Merton College's Fellows Quadrangle was built between 1608 and 1610 using Headington stone, with John Acroyd of Halifax as the chief mason and Thomas Holt as the carpenter. Battlements were added in 1622. The south range features a significant centerpiece showcasing the four orders, while the west range includes a screen made in 1671, with panelling and a fireplace added in 1680. The quadrangle has undergone partial restoration, and the interiors feature some 18th-century panelling. The Kitchen and Buttery are located at the north end of the west range. There were alterations made between 1960 and 1962.
