Description
Lockes Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with possible earlier elements. It is constructed from coursed squared marlstone and random rubble, featuring some ashlar dressings, and has a concrete plain-tile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. The building has a two-unit plan made up of two sections plus a subsidiary bay. It stands two storeys plus an attic, along with a one-storey section that also has an attic.
The main front has three windows, with a central doorway below a small window. To the right, there is a three-light stone-mullioned window above a four-light mullioned window, both of which have labels. To the left, in an earlier section of rubble walling, there is a casement window above a three-light mullioned window with a label. The lower bay on the extreme left features a secondary entrance and casement windows.
On the right gable wall, there is a small stone-mullioned window with a flat hood, along with a larger two-light mullioned window with a label in the gable. The rear of the right bay includes another two-light mullioned window on the first floor, while other rear windows have old leaded casements with wooden lintels. The interior has not been inspected.
