Description

6 High Street is a small house that was formerly two cottages, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with blue headers on the ground floor, while the first floor is hung with clay tiles. The roof is covered with peg tiles and features brick stacks.

The house has a west-facing orientation and is located below the churchyard. It has a double depth plan, consisting of two rooms wide with a slightly off-centre entrance. The two front rooms and a rear right service room are heated by end stacks.

The exterior is two storeys high with a slightly asymmetrical three-bay front. The entrance, which is either from the 19th or 20th century, is located just left of centre and includes steps leading up to a lattice porch. There are two early 19th century timber 16-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors. The roof is gabled at both ends.

The interior has not been inspected. This house is part of a row of small vernacular houses and has group value with the nearby church. A photograph from 1956 is held in the National Monuments Record.
