Description
Bakers Cottage is a small house that was formerly two cottages, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with renovations around 1980. The ground floor is constructed of brick, while the first floor is hung with clay tiles, topped by a two-span peg-tile roof with brick stacks.
The house faces west and is located below the churchyard. It has a double depth plan that is two rooms wide with a central entrance. The two front rooms are heated by projecting end stacks, while the rear service rooms are unheated. An old description from 1949 noted that there were two adjacent front doors in the center.
The exterior features two storeys with a symmetrical three-bay front that includes a 20th-century brick porch. The windows are either from the 19th or 20th century, with 16-pane sash windows flanking the porch and three 4-over-8 pane windows on the first floor. The roof is gabled at the ends.
The interior has not been inspected. Bakers Cottage is part of a row of small vernacular houses and has group value with the nearby church.
