Description
The monument to Reverend Edward Moore, located about 25 metres south of the Church of St Mary, was erected in 1921. It is made of stone and features a moulded octagonal stepped base with a square pedestal that has an inscription dedicating it to Edward Moore. The monument has a tapering octagonal shaft topped with a finialled and crocketted head, which displays four ogee-headed panels, each featuring a relief scene of saints and apostles. The main scene, located on the west side, depicts the crucifixion. Reverend Moore served as vicar and was a significant benefactor of the church and parish, commissioning R C Hussey to rebuild the Parish Church of St Mary between 1846 and 1848. A memorial window dedicated to him was created in 1891 by W Bucknall and I N Comper.
