Description

The monument to the Pomfret family, dating from the 18th century, is located about 20 metres southwest of the Church of St. Mary. It features a stone pedestal set on a moulded plinth, supported by consoles at the corners. The monument has a gadrooned cornice leading to an ogee dome topped with a flaming orb finial, which is now broken and lying beside the monument. The earliest readable inscription is dedicated to Virgil Pomfret, who died in 1765.
