Description
A row of three adjoining farm cottages, likely dating from the 1840s, situated at the entrance to Fosters Farm. The cottages are built in Flemish bond brick, with blue headers to the ground floor, and have a tile-hung first floor, topped by a peg-tile roof. There are two brick stacks.
The cottages were originally a single depth range, facing southwest, with two later rear outshuts. Each cottage likely began with a single room on its plan. Cottages 1 and 2 share a central stack on the left-hand side, while cottage 3 has a stack situated to the right of centre.
The asymmetrical front elevation has three windows and features irregularly-spaced front doors, likely dating from the late 19th or 20th century, and three first-floor raking dormers. The original attractive 19th-century 3-light cast iron casement windows with hexagonal panes are preserved throughout the front elevation. The roof is gabled. The right-hand return, which faces the road, retains an original window similar to those on the front. The rear elevation has weatherboarding to the first floor, with 20th-century 2-light timber casement windows.
The interior has not been inspected, but may contain original joinery.
