Description
This is an oasthouse built in the mid to late 19th century, located approximately 20 meters north of Stone Castle Farmhouse. The structure is primarily made of red brick, with the north front and west end featuring timber framing and weatherboard cladding, topped with a peg-tile roof.
The oasthouse is designed for stowage along a rough east-west axis facing north and includes three hop kilns: two on the south side and a taller one at the east end. The west end has a cart entrance with double plank doors. The roof of the stowage is gable-ended, while the hop kilns are circular in shape, featuring brick dentil eaves cornices and tall conical roofs with cowls.
Although the interior was not inspected, the oasthouse appears to be well-preserved and unconverted, contributing to the charm of the nearby Stone Castle Farm and its garden walls.
