Description
Chippings is a house that likely dates from the 18th century, with 20th-century extensions at the rear. It has a timber-framed structure, with the ground floor built in Flemish bond red brick and the upper part tile-hung. The building features a brick stack and chimney shaft, topped with a peg-tile roof.
The house has a small two-room plan and faces east. It includes a front lobby entrance and an axial stack that serves back-to-back fireplaces. There is a two-storey extension added to the rear in the 20th century. The building stands two storeys tall, with a lean-to outshot on the right (north) end.
The exterior has a symmetrical three-window front, featuring 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The central front doorway has a part-glazed plank door from the 20th century, which is sheltered by a monopitch hood supported by plain struts. The roof is half-hipped at both ends.
The interior has undergone significant modernisation in the 20th century, but some original plain carpentry remains visible in places. The roof has not been inspected.
