Description
The water tower, built around 1855 for Colonel E Lloyd A Lillesden, is located adjacent to Tower Cottage on Hastings Road in Hawkhurst. This octagonal structure is a single storey, constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with some black headers. It features a cambered doorcase with rubbed brick voussoirs and a plank door. At the rear, there are two cambered sash windows with rubbed brick voussoirs and vertical glazing bars. The tower has a moulded stone eaves cornice and an octagonal cast iron water tank adorned with raised diamond patterns, made by Garett Marshall & Co., Sun Foundry, Leeds. The building stands on a stone plinth.
