Description
This sundial, located about 30 metres south of the Church of St Mary, was made in 1847 by Watkins and Hill from Charing Cross, London. It is constructed from stone and features a bronze dial and gnomen. The sundial has an octagonal base and a square stem with clustered nook shafts that transition the shape to a clover-leaf design. This design is made up of four capital-shaped heads that support the clover-leaf shaped dial, which has a simple gnomen. The dial plate is inscribed with a fleur-de-lys and the makers' names, while the crown of the stem bears the inscription "Time passeth away like a shadow Man is like a thing of nought."
