Description
Nos 127 to 131 on High Street date from the 18th century and are possibly timber-framed buildings like the nearby Rose and Crown Hotel. They stand three storeys high and feature a total of eight windows. The buildings are constructed of red brick with grey headers, and have brick stringcourses above the ground and first floors. A moulded wooden eaves cornice adds detail to the design, and the roofs are tiled. Most of the glazing bars are missing, except for a few in the top floor windows of Nos 129 and 131. The first floor of these two houses has been painted white, and modern shop fronts have been installed. The facade of Nos 129 and 131 is similar to that of the Rose and Crown Hotel, although their elevation is slightly higher and the roof is more steeply pitched. Together with Nos 123, 125, and the Rose and Crown Hotel, these buildings form a cohesive group.
