Description

Bordyke House, dated 1732, likely incorporates an earlier structure. The front facade dates to the early 19th century. It is a two-storey and attic building with four windows and one dormer. The front is rendered with a cemented finish, with the ground floor rusticated. A string course, cornice, and parapet run along the top. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped profile. The first-floor windows are set within moulded architrave surrounds, and the original glazing bars remain intact. The doorway features pilasters, a projecting cornice, and a door consisting of eight fielded panels, with the top two panels cut away and glazed. The west bay of the house is constructed of ironstone ashlar, suggesting that the entire house may have been originally faced with this material before being refaced with cement. To the southeast is a two-storey, three-window red brick wing set back from the road. Bordyke House forms a group with numbers 9 to 14.
