Description

HADLOW THREE ELM LANE, GOLDEN GREEN TQ 64 NW 6/101 Cartshed and stables approx 15m - west of Goldhill Mill

Cartshed and stables. Early/mid C19. Part is Flemish bond red brick, part is weatherboarded timber framing; peg-tile roof.

Plan: Cartshed and stables made up of 4 parallel ranges end onto the courtyard to the east. The left (southern) 2 ranges are brick. The end one is a stable facing south and projects into the courtyard further than the cartsheds. All are single storey.

Exterior: South side of the stable block is 4 bays with a doorway containing a plank door left of centre and 3 casement windows. In the front (east) gable-end there is a diamond shaped ventilation hole. All the blocks are gable ended. All 3 cartsheds have large front end doorways.

Interior: Plain but sturdy C19 carpentry detail.
