Description
A mid-to-late 19th-century oasthouse, converted into two houses around 1980. The oasthouse faces southwest and originally had an open ground floor with a hop floor above. Four hop kilns are attached to the rear. The oasthouse’s ground floor front wall is slightly recessed behind a five-bay arcade of cast iron columns; the centre bay and centre-right now contain garage doors, while the other bays are bricked in. Contemporary casement windows with glazing bars are found in these bays and in a regular row on the first floor. Matching windows have been inserted into the hop kilns, which have tall conical roofs topped with cowls. The front of the former stowage is weatherboarded, with a slate roof to the former stowage and peg-tile roofs to the hop kilns. The interior has not been inspected.
