Description
The Water Tower at Margate Station is a railway water tower built around 1863 in a classical style. The lower part is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and consists of one storey. It features an elaborate modillion cornice and a row of pseudo-machicolations below. The structure includes round-headed arcading with two round-headed windows that have opening lights, as well as a round-headed doorcase on the left side with a semi-circular fanlight above it. The end elevations also have doorcases, one of which is now bricked in, and an oculus above with glazing bars arranged in a Star of David pattern. Above the main structure is a large iron tank, which has two sides with eight panels each and two ends with four panels each, featuring incised panel decoration on the upper tier. The roof is made of corrugated asbestos.
