Description
Nos 15 to 19 on King Street are a pair of buildings dated 1601, though they have been significantly renovated or rebuilt in the 19th century. They are two storeys high with attics and are faced with knapped flints, featuring brick quoins and window dressings. The buildings have three Dutch-shaped gables topped with finials. The attic storey includes three casement windows, while the first floor has four restored mullioned and transomed casement windows. A brick stringcourse runs above the ground and first floors. The ground floor showcases interesting 19th-century shopfronts with segmental heads; No 19 retains its original glazing, and No 17 has bars on the shopfront. The doorcases feature semi-circular fanlights and panelled doors, with only No 17 having a six-panelled door. The buildings sit on a brick plinth, and the rear elevation is also faced with flints, displaying irregular sash windows. Nos 15 to 35 (odd) and No 91 Trinity Square form a group.
