Description

A pair of cottages dating to the 16th century, located in Ospringe. The cottages are timber-framed and have weatherboard cladding, with a thatched and slated roof. They are one storey high with an attic, featuring three gabled dormers on a hipped roof, and chimney stacks at the north and south ends. The front has four wooden casement windows, the central window featuring three mullioned lights. A boarded door is situated to the centre left, and a half-glazed door is in the centre, with a small light over. These cottages, together with Miller’s House, The Arbory, and numbers 1 and 2 Thatch Cottage, form a group. Historical maps from 1879 depict the cottages, although their fabric and design suggest an earlier 16th-century origin.
