Description

Akhurst Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, which was later re-clad in the 18th century. It is constructed of timber framing and painted brick, with a plain tiled roof. The building is a hall house and has one storey and an attic. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right, with one hipped dormer window. There are four metal and wooden casement windows, with one outshot to the left. Access to the property is via a boarded door located on the rear elevation. The interior retains the full timber frame, including a moulded dais beam, and the roof features collars, but lacks longitudinal members, suggesting it is of early date. Stacks are clustered to the centre and right end of the building.
