Description
The Firs is a Wealden house dating from the 16th century, with additions from the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a timber frame that is clad with painted brick and has a plain tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high on a plinth, with a hipped roof, one hipped dormer, and chimney stacks located at the rear center and projecting from the left end. The windows are arranged irregularly, with four glazing bar sash windows on the first floor and six on the ground floor, including two on the left that have cornice heads. There is also a catslide outshot window to the left. Structural elements such as dragon beams and a screens passage indicate its Wealden style, with a ceiling and stack added when a 17th-century timber-framed wing was constructed at the rear, which now serves as the entrance.
