Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a Grade II* listed aisled hall house that dates back to the 14th century, with additions from the 16th and 17th centuries. The front facing the road features a distinctive chequered pattern of red and blue brick, with flint on the right side and a plain tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high on a plinth made of brick and flint, topped with a hipped roof. There are stacks on the left side, with an offset stack projecting to the right. The windows are arranged irregularly, including one blocked brick mullion, two sash windows, and one wooden casement on the first floor, along with five wooden casements on the ground floor. A half-glazed door is located to the left, and to the right is a two-storey gabled porch that jetties out, supported by carved brackets, featuring a four-panelled door.
The right side of the cottage reveals the 14th-century semi-aisled hall, which is timber framed and covered with painted brick, also topped with a plain tiled roof. This side is one storey high with a catslide roof, a gabled dormer, and a stack at the end on the right. There are two wooden casements and a central boarded door.
