Description

The coal duty boundary marker, erected in 1861 or soon after, is a notable cast iron structure. It was cast by Henry Grissell at the Regent Canal Ironworks. The marker is designed as a square post with chamfered edges, featuring a projecting cornice and a frieze that bears an armorial shield. This post was established under the London Coal and Wine Duties (Continuance) Act of 1861.
