Description
Castle Farmhouse is a house that consists of three sections built over time, with no significant gaps between the constructions. The left gabled section dates from the 16th century, the right gabled section is from around 1600, and the link between them is possibly from the 17th century. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring five irregularly placed windows. It has fairly high pitched tiled roofs with small dormers. The right gabled section is of better quality than the others, with an overhanging first floor that showcases exposed framing, plaster filling, and a moulded soffit. The rest of the first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is plastered and painted to resemble vertical timbering. Inside, some timber is exposed, and the roof features queen post trusses and wind braces supporting the purlins. The house includes various 19th-century casement and sash windows, along with a late 18th-century panelled door that has a bracketed hood above it. Castle Farmhouse, the wall to the east, the garden boundary wall, and the cottage to the west form a group.
