Description
Amherst Cottage is a mid to late 19th-century lodge designed in the Tudor-Gothic style. It has one storey and an attic, featuring two windows. The building has a high-pitched tiled roof that is cross-gabled on the right side, and it includes a chimney stack with three tall diagonal brick shafts. The walls are made of roughly coursed, galletted rubble masonry, accented with freestone quoins and dressings. The windows have interlaced bars, with those in the attic positioned under pointed arches, while the ground floor windows feature carved lintels and hoodmoulds. There is a gabled porch on the right side with a pointed entrance arch. The door behind the porch has a four-centred head and tracery panelling. Adjoining to the north is an 18th-century one-storey brick building, which is currently used as a garage.
