Description

Under River House is a Queen Anne house dating to the late 17th century, with additions from the 19th century and a modern wing to the rear. The exterior is constructed of stone laid in continuous courses, with flint infilling. The house is two storeys high with dormers. A good modillion cornice runs along the top, and the roof is covered with tiles. The sash windows originally had bars, but these have been removed. A late 19th-century projecting porch is located in the centre of the front, and a 19th-century bay window and addition are situated on the right-hand side. Three casement dormers with tiled roofs are present. Late 19th-century chimney stacks are also visible. The house is accompanied by an outbuilding to the north, a stable building to the east, and a wall behind the house, which together form a group centered around a cobbled stable yard.
