Description

Old Harbourland is a house dating to the late 16th century, with significant alterations and rebuilding in the 18th century and a 19th-century addition. The house is timber framed with a ground floor of brick and a first floor clad in tile, featuring thick bands of plain and fishscale tiles. The roof is tiled. The original plan comprised a two-bay cross-wing, to which an 18th-century bay was added to the right. A narrow 18th-century addition sits to the left, with another large 18th-century bay extending to the rear of the right bay. A large 19th-century addition fills the left rear corner. The house has two storeys and a cellar, with a brick plinth above a small stone plinth. The roof is hipped at the right end. A projecting brick stack is visible at the left end, and a ridge stack is located in the rear right wing. The windows are arranged irregularly; three two-light casements are visible, two towards the left end and one to the right of centre. A single-storey brick lean-to with a plain tile roof abuts the left-end stack, and includes a 20th-century half-door. The interior features exposed beams and posts.
