Description

The building is a former HM Customs and Immigration Office, constructed between 1815 and 1816. It is a three-storey structure with five windows facing south and three windows facing east. The exterior is of brown stock brick, featuring a stone stringcourse above the ground floor and a stone cornice and parapet. Original glazing bars are intact. The east front includes round-headed windows on the second floor. The south front has a doorway with pilasters, a projecting cornice featuring a royal cartouche in stone, and a semi-circular fanlight above the door. A prominent feature is a large five-light bow window on the north front, overlooking the river and serving as a lookout. A two-bay extension in matching brick style is present on the west side, incorporating blank windows and a Tuscan portico. A stone flagged forecourt is bounded by spear railings.
