Description
Terry Cottage, Whyke Cottage, and The Don are a row of four cottages located on the north-west side of High Street. The exterior of these cottages appears to date from the late 18th century or early 19th century, although The Don features a date stone indicating it was built in 1693. The cottages are timber-framed behind their facades. They are two storeys tall, with the ground floor constructed of stone rubble that has been poorly patched with red brick. The first floor is made of red or brown brick, although the brickwork of No 48 has been renewed. The cottages have tiled roofs, and the glazing bars are intact, except for the ground floor of No 48, which has been converted into a small modern shop window. Nos 44 and 46 feature doorcases with projecting cornices supported by brackets. Nos 36 to 50 (even) form a group.
