Description
The boundary wall between 20 and 22 Church Street in St. Mary's was likely built in the later 17th century or early 18th century, using some earlier materials. This linear wall incorporates reused medieval stone, narrow Tudor bricks, flint, and both yellow and red brick.
The wall varies in height from about 7 to 12 feet and stretches approximately 27 feet long. The taller western section, closest to the house, features a projecting plinth made of reused stone and flint, with yellow brick above arranged in English bond. There is some later patching near the top in red and yellow brick, as well as a section in yellow Flemish bond. The eastern section displays a more irregular bond pattern with random reused masonry and unknapped flints, topped with yellow brick coping. Near the eastern end, there is a low rectangular opening that has been blocked with red brick.
