Description
St Barts, located on Dover Road, is a pair of houses dated 1849. They are built from yellow brick and feature tiled roofs. Number 4 has red rubbed brick arches that are flat over the windows and semi-circular over the door, while Number 5 is plastered. Both houses retain their original glazing bars and have four-panel doors. The rear of Number 5 has medieval elements. There is a gas lamp at the corner of Number 5, which is mounted on a modern wall bracket. This lamp is from the mid-19th century and has four curved ogee braces, a square lantern that is larger at the top than at the bottom, and anthemion foliage at each corner of the sloping roof. The lamp terminates in a bell-shaped vent with a scalloped cap and finial above. St Barts and the complex of St Bartholomew's Hospital are part of a group of buildings.
