Description

Nos 1 to 6, Bushy Ruff Cottages, are a group of early 19th-century buildings on Alkham Road. The first five cottages are two storeys with a basement and attics, constructed with a flint facade and red brick quoins and window dressings. They have an old tiled roof with five hipped dormers and three chimneystacks. The windows are sash windows with intact glazing bars and cambered heads, with wooden sills. A brick string course runs along the front. The simple doorcases have cambered arches. No. 1 features a later wooden, pedimented weatherhood. No. 6 is a later 19th-century extension, again flint-faced, with a gable end featuring bargeboards and a finial. It has cambered casement windows, with some blank openings on the side elevation. The front elevation of No. 6 has a pedimented weatherhood with a slate roof and bargeboards.
