Description

This is an 18th-century range of buildings, altered over time, situated on Chapel Street. The buildings comprise numbers 8, 9, and 10, and are two storeys with basements and attics. Number 8 has a stuccoed exterior, number 9 is painted brick, and number 10 is red brick. The roof is tiled and features three dormers. A stringcourse runs along the facade. Each building has one sash window, the majority of which retain their original glazing bars. Number 8 has a cornice with a moulded architrave and a porch with four steps. Number 9 features a simple doorcase with a plain architrave. The gable end of number 8 has been modernized with a pebble-dashed finish and a new doorcase. Number 10 has a later extension and an unusual Dutch-shaped gable. The buildings are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of numbers 8 to 10, which are considered to form a group.
