Description
The Swanscombe Cutting Footbridge is a footbridge that crosses the A2 trunk road, located east of the A296 junction. It was built in 1964 by Kent County Council, with J.S. Bergg serving as the County Bridge Engineer. This footbridge is made of prestressed concrete and features a post-tensioned arch design. It is the first of several similar bridges constructed in Kent and is noted for its elegant arch that spans the dual carriageway. The bridge crosses a cutting at the top of a hill and effectively closes a notch in the skyline.
