Description
Barn End House, formerly known as Lower Barn End Farmhouse, dates back to around 1470 and was possibly built for the Bailiff of the Nevill Estate. This 15th-century timber-framed building, which is of the Wealden type, has been stuccoed. The first floor of the original end window bays extends out on brackets, while the eaves of the central section also extend on curved braces and a bracket. The house features a steeply pitched hipped tiled roof. There are three modern casement windows and a 17th-century extension with one window bay to the south. A modern doorcase is located under the left-hand window bay, and the building has a kingpost roof.
