Description
Nos 22 and 23 Castle Street are a pair of houses that have been converted into offices. They date from the early 18th century and have been stuccoed, with alterations made in the early to mid-19th century. The buildings feature plat bands over the ground and first floors and have rusticated quoins. They have a coped parapet above a plain tiled roof, which includes two gabled dormers. The structure is two storeys high with a regular two-window front, featuring sash windows. The entrances are located at the extreme left and right, each with cornice-hoods supported by console brackets. Aside from the facade, the lobby, and the party wall shared with Nos 19-21, which includes some timber-framing with curved braces likely from the 16th century, the building has been largely reconstructed at the rear in the later 1970s.
