Description

Deanery Cottage is a building likely constructed by Prior Goldstone II after 1494 for the 'firmarius'. It features 15th century timber-framed banding with roughcast infilling, with part of the ground floor close studded and part rebuilt in red brick. The end window bays on the first floor extend over the protruding ends of the floor joists, although the southern bay has been partially underbuilt. Curved braces support the eaves of the recessed center. The cottage has a hipped tiled roof with smoke gablets and an external brick chimneystack located to the north-west. There are three windows, and the sides and back of the building are made of red brick. Inside, the cottage has a crownpost roof.
