Description

The central barn at Home Farm is a timber-framed structure that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features an aisled design with four main bays and a half bay to the south. The exterior is faced with weather-boarding, resting on a brick and stone plinth, and topped with a corrugated iron roof. A full-height porched cart entrance is located in the third bay, while small sliding doors are present in the first bay. The roof is constructed with clasped purlins and collars, and includes jowled principal posts along with passing braces to the aisles. There are also 19th-century bolted braces in the bay immediately north of the cart entrance, and an inserted ridge piece.
