Description

The gas lantern and column located at the rear of No. 68 High Street is a mid-19th century structure. It features a cast iron octagonal column that is supported by four ogee curved braces. The lantern itself is square in shape, with a smaller base than its top, and has a sloping roof that includes two bell vents. This lantern is designed to be gas lit.
